Snejana's Story

Hi, my name is Snejana. I am from Ukraine and I am 21 years old. I was born in a Christian family. At the beginning we lived like a middle-class family — we were not poor, but we also were not rich. When I was born, we started to have problems, and sometimes we didn't have money in the house, not even for bread.

I tried a couple of times to cut my veins, because it was very difficult. I was a teenager and I wanted to die. I didn't believe in God, because I was so disappointed in Him. I had strong pain in my legs, and because of that I also didn't want to live — I was falling asleep and waking up with pain. This made me depressed, and I wanted to die because I didn't want to feel anything.

At some point I understood that I had to change something, that I couldn't live like that anymore. Then I was invited to church, and I decided to go. I was disappointed in life and in everything, but I went to church, and it was the first time in a long time that I felt the presence of God, and I cried a lot.

I wanted to go and study, and since my parents didn't have any money to provide for me, I went to work after school. When Oleg and Lena from the Orphan's Hands came and said to me that there is an opportunity for me to go and learn — to be whatever I wanted — I was very happy and went with them to Odessa. I understood that God exists and He cares for the poor.

I am very happy to be a part of this family. I met a lot of new people, and I have a lot of friends now. In 2018 I was baptized, and I became a daughter of the Heavenly Father. Everything that has happened in my life, it was the way it's supposed to happen. I am very grateful for the people that are helping me, and I'm very grateful to God, who is sending people like you into our lives to change us.

I started to become what I always dreamed of, and I received as a gift a sewing machine — and now I can sew things. This was my dream. Thanks to you, my life has changed and this place can exist. Thank you for your care and your big and kind heart.
