The Light Shines in the Darkness

Every month I write to share both the victories and the challenges we face as we rescue young boys and girls from trafficking, abuse, and poverty. And every month you pause from your busy life to read, to pray, and often to give. I want you to know: your partnership is not small. It is life-saving.
Ukraine: Living in Darkness
Right now our home in Ukraine is facing a heartbreaking reality. Because of the war, our girls have had no electricity for over two weeks. What began as brief, rolling outages has become daily life — no heat, no lights. At night they listen to drones overhead, and then the boom. They are living in conditions that feel like the dark ages, yet they are still standing, and still safe, because of you.

To survive this winter we urgently need a flexible heating solution that can run through the blackouts of war, a generator to keep their lights and heat on, and a 300–500 litre diesel tank to fuel it. Diesel is $7 a gallon in Ukraine right now. These three items together we estimate at around $10,000. Please pray for our girls, and for this urgent need to be met.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
One of the most powerful gifts we can give you is the chance to see the impact you are making. Our team in Moldova sent a series of videos so you can meet some of the lives you've helped transform — precious souls like Daniel, Bogdana, and Julia, who came from unimaginable circumstances but are being rescued, redeemed, and restored at Vatra Village. This isn't just giving. This is rescue. This is eternal.

Promise House: Payment Complete, Now We Renovate
We are preparing to open two new homes at Promise House in Moldova. We completed the purchase — but we have just had difficult news: because of the war next door, building costs have doubled. What we expected to cost $50,000 per home will now cost closer to $100,000 to meet the standards these rescued children deserve. Moldova depends on Ukraine for building supplies, and if we do not begin soon, we may lose this opportunity.

You are holding a thread of hope that stretches across the world — into war zones, into poverty, into the darkest places — pulling children toward safety and a future. Because of you, children are being rescued. Because of you, homes are being built. We are asking the Lord for a miracle, and inviting you to be part of it.
