Making a Place for a Miracle

Making a Place for a Miracle

In 2 Kings 4 we read about a woman from Shunem who recognized the anointing of God on the prophet Elisha. “Let's make a small room on the roof,” she told her husband, “and put in it a bed and a table, a chair and a lamp for him.” She didn't simply welcome a passing guest — she made a place for the presence of God to abide.

In that small room she placed four simple things: a bed, a place of rest; a chair, a place of authority; a table, a place of provision; and a lamp, a place of revelation. Because of her generosity, the prophet not only visited — he stayed. And when tragedy later struck and her son died, it was in that very room, on that very bed, that God raised the boy back to life. Her investment in God’s work became the place where her own miracle returned.

My sons Philip and Andrew have just traveled to Promise House in Ungheni to determine the best way to create a safe home for the boys and girls who will soon live in the two homes we have purchased. I pray that among those children there may one day be a future Elisha — someone God will raise up to bring light into a very dark part of the world.

Right now these children are waiting. They need beds to sleep in, chairs to sit in, tables to gather around, and lights to read the Word of God by. Demolition is complete; the electrical, plumbing, and underfloor heating are being installed. The homes are taking shape — but we need your help to finish them.

You made a place for me. I was abused, abandoned, invisible — but you saw me. Because you helped create a home, I found hope, and I found Jesus.

Would you prayerfully consider helping us make these houses true homes? You can sponsor a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen, or a bathroom. A gift of $50 would sponsor a lamp to light a child's room in the dark; $250 a chair; $500 a bed; $3,000 a dining table where they can nourish body and soul. A gift of any amount helps continue the renovations. Please listen for His voice, and obey.

Help us change futures.

When you give to Orphans Hands, you're igniting hope in hearts who have yet to experience it.
