A Seed Planted, Now Blooming for Jesus

Imagine living in a world of silence, where being deaf is the least of your worries — where you also carry abandonment and a desperate loneliness. Maria carried that burden in her heart the first day she arrived at Orphan's Hands. She was healed and transformed in our home for the deaf, and when she left us, she flew — a free, whole soul.

Recently Maria wrote to me. The occasional texts at Christmas and on my birthday — “Thank you, Dad. I want to make you proud” — are truly special. She is now married to Ivan, who is also deaf, and they have two little boys, both deaf. In a world where obscene wealth exists beside unbearable poverty, being deaf can feel like an almost unbearable burden. Maria wrote because she knew her “dad” would help.
She and Ivan have a vision — a place for little children like their sons to go and not be “different,” where they will be loved, taught, and told of the love of Jesus. They want to start a Christian kindergarten for deaf children. And we are going to help them do it.

Ten years ago we first took Maria into our hearts. Now here she is — our planted seed, bringing an opportunity to extend our hands further and wider.
They need furnishings, supplies, special equipment, and monthly support. My daughter Melody has been texting Maria, putting together a list that will create a haven of care never seen before in Moldova. We have a container leaving in a few weeks; we can get the special items there, but we need the funds to send them. Help me bring this seed up into the sunshine of God's love and grace.
