There are more slaves today than any other point in history.
Over 400,000 young girls have been trafficked from Moldova to Russia, the Ukraine and other countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and East Asia.
The average lifespan of a child sold into human trafficking is three to seven years.
The International Labor Organization estimates that there are 40.3 million victims of human trafficking globally.
MOLDOVA and the UKRAINE are primarily source countries for men, women, and children subjected to sex trafficking and forced labor.
About Our Process
We take these teens from fragile souls, to leaders in their community.
Over the course of four years with The Orphan’s Hands, teens in our program begin as orphans, experience the life-changing power of Jesus and the love of a family, and ultimately become missionaries to the same lonely, poverty-stricken villages from which they were rescued.
Orphans
At the age of 16, orphaned children are pushed out of the familiar confines of their orphanage. Left defenseless and alone, they often fall prey to the predatory schemes of human traffickers. It’s in these critical and dire moments of vulnerability that we intervene.
Sons & Daughters
At Vatra Village, our teens live in one of six sizable family homes. Over time, our family-based housing model becomes a cornerstone, fostering a profound sense of security and consistency essential for navigating through past trauma, abuse and abandonment.
Missionaries
The incredible young men and women of The Orphan’s Hands feed the homeless, visit orphans and bring the Gospel to the lonely and poverty ridden villages of Moldova. Their hands bring miracles, joy and love to the orphan living in their old orphanage.

Bringing Hope & Changing Lives
What our youth are saying:
“The Orphan’s Hands delivered hope for me. I am now in a safe home, away from the conflict zone in Ukraine. A home where His love is always present, and a future is made possible because of the people that care about me. My story is mostly made up of a collection of sorrowful moments, until the day I learned about His love for me. I no longer have that tight grip on my heart, because now He has a tight grip on my life.”
Luiza
Ukraine
“Every time I thought about the day when I would age out of the orphanage, my legs got weak and I felt sick. That would be the end of my life, I thought. Today, I am in a beautiful home surrounded by a huge family and am studying to become a doctor.”
LIVIU
Moldova
“We have no father and our mother lost her parental rights due to severe neglect. The Orphan’s Hands family took us in and now we have a seed of hope in our life.”
ANA AND ALA
Moldova
“There were times when running away from home was my and my sister’s only way to survive. We wandered the streets, dirty and hungry. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I wanted to give up during those kind of days. I felt so weary inside. I am so thankful to God for sending The Orphan’s Hands to rescue me.”
